Huber Heights Community Information

Huber Heights is constantly trying to improve its image. In fact, community leaders and government officials have done a superb job of identifying those elements, events and attitudes of the past that will serve as the foundation for redefining the city’s image in the future. By incorporating this approach, officials have nurtured this community along from a tiny township in the late 1700s to one of the fastest growing cities in Ohio.

Huber Heights boasts an award-winning finance department, fire department and park and recreation department. Each department, in its own right, has provided an incredible service to the citizens of this city. Through diligent spending, the city’s budget is well-balanced and affords the government the opportunity to enhance several social service programs such as assistance for the elderly, education for youths and a city beautification plan for renovations and preservations to many historical sites, neighborhood parks and community activity centers. The fire department continues to operate under first-class leadership once again achieving a fire insurance rating of two for the community. In combination with the efforts of the local police division, Huber Heights is a very safe place to reside.

There are 13 parks in the city, covering more than 125 acres. Ball fields, basketball courts, fitness courses, football fields, picnic and shelter facilities, playgrounds, soccer fields, tennis and volleyball courts and walking trails are conveniently scattered throughout the city making access to one of these outdoor amenities simple for nearly every resident, despite where their home may be located. Fishing and boating along the Great Miami River or in one of the region’s many vast lakes is also an attractive alternative for the everyday outdoorsmen.

For those less adventurous souls, commercial and industrial expansion to the area in the early 1990s led to a surge in retail and commercial establishments popping up everywhere in the city. This surge more than tripled the amount of shopping and dining opportunities for local residents. It also opened the door for more jobs in the region. The North Heights Plaza and the Northpark Center are two of the city’s main hotbeds for window shopping or dining at a sidewalk café. Conversely, the construction of the Center Point 70 Commerce Park became the new home for over 15 large manufacturing businesses when calculated, combined to employ over 1,700 people.

Today, Huber Heights houses approximately 700 businesses. While the city continues to grow both in terms of population and commercial/industrial development, the city still strives to maintain a separate identity for itself revolving around community festivals and especially the local school system.

Rated amongst the top school systems in Montgomery County, Huber Heights students benefit from qualified instructors who are put in a position to excel as educators due to strong financial support from the local government. Amenities at local schools are outstanding. New equipment, books, and play areas are complimented by clean classrooms, which make learning equally fun and safe. Furthermore, upon graduation from high school, this Midwest region is heavily populated with some of the finest academic institutions of higher learning our county has. The University of Dayton is literally right next door to Huber Heights while Richmond University in Indiana and Ohio State University are each less than an hour’s drive away.

Huber Heights, in its splendor, does not possess a clearly defined downtown area because during its initial development after World War II, the city was designed to be a satellite bedroom community for nearby Dayton. The end result, despite the recent introduction of commercial and industrial business to the area, is a relatively peaceful community filled to the brim with attractive dwellings of all shapes and sizes centered around expansive park areas and central squares for public gatherings. This close-knit community has benefited greatly from such a design and consequently, makes for an outstanding place for you and your family to live.

If words like community, civic responsibility, honesty and breathtaking beauty strike a chord, then Huber Heights and its tens of thousands of friendly citizens will be waiting for you and your family with open arms.
